First of all, I extend my sympathies and sorrows to those who were affected by the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack. The three attackers were clearly trying to intimidate the surviving cartoonists and editors from using their freedom of press to express their opinion. It's awful that expressing one's freedom had to result in violence such as this for the reacting offended parties (ex. Islamic extremists). But at the same time, in the wake and aftermath of these murders, we cannot back down, no matter what country we are in. The suppression of our opinions will lead to another Third Reich, and another Holocaust. I know it sounds radical, but it's true. It started with journalism and literature being restricted because it offended certain parties. Then it turned to book burnings, and the Night of Broken Glass, and it all spiraled from there.
America and France - we may have our freedom now, but we will never stop fighting to defend it, and this - the attack on Charlie Hebdo - it is yet another battle for a basic yet most vital right.
I applaud the cartoonists and editors - from America, France, and elsewhere, that press on, no matter what danger faces them through their cartoons.
I wish that the murdered members of Charlie Hebdo find peace in the afterlife, and their families gain peace from the fact that they are in a better place, and they died as noble heroes.

The death of Leelah Alcorn is an outrage to me. No person should be denied something so important as their own identity, and the fact that Leelah had to live in that environment gives me chills.
LGBTQA+ people are humans too! Give them their rights!
No wonder why so many LGBTQA+ people are attempting suicide. It's hell for them here.
I'm a Catholic, and I completely disagree with the Church's anti-LGBTQ+ ideals. I was raised that way, but it wasn't until high school that I met an LGBTQ+ person for the first time.
It was then when I determined that God would never condone such a thing. To reject people just for being who they are.
Jesus, in my opinion, would never do that.
Rest in Peace, Leelah. I'm sure you're in the center of Paradise right now, safe and happy.
I pray that your parents realize the depths of their mistakes and prejudices, and put a stop to those awful views.
No matter what people say, no matter what Westboro says, LGBTQ+ people need all the rights that they are entitled to. The fact that there are so many young lives at stake just makes this situation all the more urgent.
Don't let Leelah Alcorn die in vain. Treat LGBTQ+ people like the humans they are. They have feelings too, just like straight people, and they deserve their rights, just like heterosexual humans do.
...Don't let her die in vain.
